Location

In a smart residential area, 2km from the centre of Calvi in northern Corsica. Corsica is one of the Mediterranean's last untarnished jewels - one of just a handful of islands to have escaped the worst excesses of modern tourism. Corsica stands defiantly as the most southerly outpost of mainland France, which is some 180km to the north-west. The island boasts an extraordinary variety of beaches (including some of Europe's best), many of which are deserted outside high season. Scenically, the island has no rival, especially in the rugged, unspoilt interior with its high mountains, spectacular gorges, forests of chestnut and pine, picturesque villages clinging to precipitous moutainsides and everywhere the fragrant maquis (a mixture of herbs and wild flowers).

The Accommodation

The interior is spacious, immaculate and attractively furnished throughout. The welcoming owners have tastefully combined pieces of antique furniture and old prints with contemporary fittings and comfortable sofas and armchairs to give the whole place a homely feel. Large french windows open onto the superb north-facing, enclosed terrace and allow the light to stream through. This helps create a restful atmosphere while a flight of wooden stairs leading up to a small mezzanine and a beamed ceiling adds considerable charm. The fitted kitchen is separate from the living area and equipped to a very high standard.
